Working together to enable success

TEKenable has been designated a Best Place to Work. Find out why.

Every business today knows that attracting and retaining top talent is essential for success, and in that, we’re no different. However, one area where we are different is that we want to attract those people by demonstrating that we take culture seriously. As a result, TEKenable has gone through the Great Place to Work process and are pleased to announce that we have been designated “Best Place to Work in a medium enterprise”.

As part of the process, an extensive survey of TEKenable staff was undertaken, finding that 92 per cent agreed with the statement, “Taking everything into account, I would say this is a great place to work” – a figure that rose to 100 per cent among staff who have been with us for at least six years.

At TEKenable, we take this as welcome validation that our company culture, which focuses not only on excellence but also meeting employee needs, has created a positive environment where people engage with the best technology and work together toward shared goals – and have real opportunities for career progression.

Collaboration and autonomy

At the core of TEKenable’s success is our emphasis on collaboration, and this extends beyond our consultative approach to working with clients. We recognise that a cohesive team is key to achieving outstanding results. Employees at TEKenable are encouraged to communicate, share ideas, and work together to tackle challenges.

This collaborative spirit extends to all levels of the organisation, creating an inclusive environment where everyone’s input is valued. By fostering open communication channels, TEKenable nurtures a sense of belonging and ensures that every employee feels heard and respected. At the same time, our team members are trusted with a high degree of autonomy and are given real opportunities for career development.

This is reflected in the Great Place to Work report, which found we scored well above average in all surveyed areas, including 84 per cent for Communication and Involvement, and 87 per cent for both Empowerment and Accountability and Innovation and Continuous Improvement. This compares to average figures in these areas across all companies of just 62, 70, and 62 per cent, respectively, demonstrating that the TEKenable way enables our people to successfully work together and strive for the best. Indeed, more than four-fifths of surveyed staff responded that their work made a difference.

Clear and trusted leadership

At the same time, we realise that culture responds to management, and at TEKenable, we strive not only to provide technological leadership by engaging with the latest and most promising technologies but also by having a leadership team that is focused both on technological development and the environment we work together in.

91 per cent of staff said they could ask management any reasonable question and get a straight answer, and 85 per cent agreed that management genuinely seeks and responds to suggestions and ideas.

Our staff also noted that TEKenable’s management were not just managers, instead having risen from the technical side themselves and therefore were technologically knowledgeable. As one staff member noted, “management is open and flexible. Directors and CEOs are hands-on [and] they understand the business from a technical perspective,” while others praised their “open and transparent communication all the time” mentoring [including] one-on-ones regularly” and both an “open door policy and constructive criticism”.

Building a future together

In addition, our people don’t stand still. A great workplace is one packed with opportunities, and TEKenable recognises the importance of ongoing learning and growth. We invest in the development of our people by providing access to the latest technology as well as through both professional development and technical training programmes, among other resources.

Alongside mentoring, we focus on innovation, both technology and processes, which resulted in 87 per cent of staff agreeing with the statement, “I am developing professionally working here”.

Over four-fifths of survey respondents agreed that “we celebrate people who try new and better ways of doing things, regardless of the outcome” and that “promotions go to those who best deserve them”.

There is more to say, including on issues as diverse as work-life balance and well-being, performance management, corporate social responsibility, and overall strategy, and in the coming weeks, we will detail how TEKenable manages these.

For now, though, we would like to give the final word to our team members, who said at TEKenable, “good work is recognised”, that “people are highly competent/skilled and nice to work with,” and that TEKenable “is a friendly place to work, where I have the opportunity to work with people from the entire world, we are diverse and open to hiring people with good knowledge, no matter gender, age, or where they are”.

In addition, TEKenable was described as “a fun and friendly place which always provides opportunities to learn something new,” that benefitted from a strong “team spirit and the way in which management works in partnership with employees, in addition to the possibility of professional development, which is always encouraged”.

We couldn’t be happier.
