THE BACKGROUND
TEKenable was contacted by our client, a lessor of aeroplane engines to rebuild their entire lease and deal management ERP system, as the existing system was exceptionally slow in capturing, loading, processing and reporting data and was no longer fit-for-purpose to meet the exacting and evolving business needs of the client. Additional features the client required was that the new solution is a cloud-based system to facilitate remote working, offers robust security with role-based access and is readily and natively integrated with Microsoft 365. The client commits to its customers that engine availability is guaranteed within 24 hours, so the systems they utilise internally are a key differentiator and they confer a key competitive advantage over other leasing companies.
THE PROBLEM
The old legacy system in situ was built on old technology and was run on on-premise SQL (2017) servers. The lease management functionality from lead to close and to post-sale activities such as billing, contract, portfolio and financial management was a very manual and cumbersome process for the client. This was impacting on the ability of the client to deliver top class service to existing customers and impeding on the client’s ability to acquire new customers. Along with this was the potential security vulnerabilities of running on older technology, the inability to provide remote access to staff that was compounded by the Covid crisis and the lack of data and system integration with 3rd party systems resulted in lack of actionable insight for upsell and cross sell opportunities for the client and subsequent lost revenue.
THE PROJECT
The project comprised a broad and complex range of requirements that spanned the entire lease and deal management lifecycle. From opportunity capture, management of opportunity, asset and portfolio management, billing and all financial functionality required in the leasing of engines.
It was imperative that ensuring all regulatory and compliance obligations were met when considering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and PO and so the system was built using the highest security and data management standards while allowing for scalability and remote working. The project required a comprehensive analysis of our clients deal management processes.
The engagement involved over 25 workshops to ensure that all requirements were met, and the final solution would meet all the business, operational, functional, and non-functional requirements.
OUTCOME
Our proposed solutions followed the low code, no code approach and the Microsoft technologies used in the delivery of the solution. The Microsoft technologies used in delivering the required business outcomes of the client were Microsoft PowerApps, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Business Central.
